About MeI’m a strong believer in always trying to look beyond one’s own horizons when tackling a problem. Engineering is all too often distilled into a purely technical discipline, often failing to acknowledge the greater impact and consequences engineering can have. Smart Cities, for example, require us to consider everything from the environmental to the political contexts in order to implement an idea or solve a challenge. Not doing so would likely result in a non-inclusive, non-effective solution that no one wants.
Fundamentally, I don’t believe engineers are created because a person has a degree in it. I believe engineers are created when people apply themselves to solve a problem, acknowledge the limitations of their own understanding, collaborate with others and seek to develop a solution that respects and utilises the wider context of the problem. Collaboration is an integral component of this and so working with different minded people is an important enabler to tackling complex and multi-faceted challenges.
